Review - A Piece Of Cake

A Piece Of Cake

Food:
Ambiance:
Service:

After Dim Sum at Jade Garden in the International District, we needed to pick up a last minute birthday cake.  My friend suggested we go to A Piece Of Cake.  I have driven by this place before but never stopped in to check it out.  But what a great hidden spot!

Corso Como Sale Today - Ludlum Mary Janes & Leonor Boots!

Today at 8:00am PDT Ideeli is having a Corso Como sale!  I love Corso Como shoes, they are super comfortable, without compromising your style... Most of their shoes have gel linings and are cushioned for comfort.  I can easily wear the Leonor Boots or the Ludlum Mary Janes for an average 8 hour day!

The Leonor boots in gray are on sale for $59 - what a steal! You can read my review of these shoes here...

Corso Como Leonor Boots

And the Ludlum Mary Janes are available in black and dark brown (Coffee) for $55.. I think I am going to try to get the dark brown ones...

Urban Decay Sale on Hautelook!

Hautelook is having another Urban Decay sale tomorrow, 3/31 at 8:00am PDT!  I love the Urban Decay cosmetics sales.  I've bought brushes and shadows for anywhere from $2 - $5.  And eyeshadow palettes that are normally $30-$50 for $7-$20!  Great prices!

I am definitely going to check this one out!

Hautelook is a members only sample sale website.  If you are not already a member you can sign up at this invitation link.  There is no cost to sign up for Hautelook either, and you aren't obligated to purchase anything, so give it a try!

Nestled in an old auto shop in Fremont is Uneeda Burger!  It's easy to find, and not far from Paseo's Fremont location.  We drove around looking for a parking spot, and after finding one across the street, we noticed this sign, just north of the restaurant:

Review - Bouchon

Bouchon

Food:
Ambiance:
Service:

Being that I am another devoted Thomas Keller fan, I try to make my way to his restaurants whenever I am vacationing nearby.  I have dined at all three Bouchon locations and enjoyed each one!  The decor of each is very similar as is the ambiance.  All three spots have the wonderful French Bistro bustle during the day, I just love that! I love Bouchon for lunch or better, brunch.  Amazing.  The food is consistent amongst all three locations, which I find outstanding.  That's not an easy task to accomplish!

Anthropologie - Tiny Typhoon Cardigan

Tiny Typhoon Cardigan $49.97 (reg. $98)

I love this cardigan!  I totally overlooked it online because the photos don't really do it justice. I found an XS at the Downtown Seattle Anthropologie, and fell in love with it!  They were sold out of my size online, so Anthro was able to locate it at the Portland store.  So free shipping! yay!

Bad Albert's Tap & Grill

Definitely a hole in the wall, but the food isn't too bad!  They have a big selection of Benedicts for brunch, everything from the standard Eggs Benedict with Black Forest Ham, to Prime Rib Benedict on special!

Review - Ad Hoc

Ad Hoc

Food:
Ambiance:
Service:

I think I love Yountville... Everything is so quaint, and peaceful.  And in the middle of it all, is Ad Hoc.  Ad Hoc is exactly that, each day the menu changes, one meal is served to the entire crowd, and the menu is constantly changing.  They serve everything from Memphis Style Barbecue to Veal Porterhouse.   Every other Monday, they serve their famous fried chicken, unfortunately we missed out on this opportunity!

Review - Citrus

Citrus

Food:
Ambiance:
Service:

I have been trying to decide how to review this place. Do I review just the food? Do I criticize the ambiance of this place, solely because of the clientele? I guess I just need to be honest.

We recently dined/"partied" at Citrus for a friend's birthday.  I don't think this is a place I would have picked for myself, but it was my friend's birthday.  Of course we will go!  Plus, we were able to get coupons through Dealswarm, $20 for $40 of food and drinks, and there wasn't a limit on how many could be used for the group, so everyone was able to use a coupon!

Nanette Lepore - Party Girl Coat

Nanette Lepore Party Girl Coat $137.98 (reg. $578)

I was able to find this cute sweater coat at Nordstrom Rack for $229.97 with 40% off that price, so I decided to buy it, and I'm glad I did!  Nanette Lepore's Party Girl Coat is a sweatercoat that is fully lined in a gray acrylic fabric.  It has a front zipper closure and two zipper pockets.

Anthropologie - Rosa Rugosa Top by Deletta

Rosa Rugosa Top by Deletta $39.95 (reg. $68)

Review: The only good thing about the Rosa Rugosa Top from Anthropologie is the pretty print. The print is navy, taupe and teal with an ivory background.  It's pretty, and the pop of teal, which isn't apparent in the photos, is nice.  This top is so cheap feeling, and unflattering.  The wide elastic waistband is awkward, it's almost too thick and bulky for such a delicate knit, and it hit me at a strange spot, somewhere between my bust and my waist.  There are three side ties, and after adjusting them, I realized they don't do enough for the shape.

Review - Burma Superstar

Burma Superstar

Food:
Ambiance:

The first thing I had to figure out, what is Burmese food?  I mean, I understand it's from Burma, but I have never been exposed to this kind of cuisine.  This place gets amazing reviews, so we decided to give it a try, not knowing what to expect.  The only tip we'd had to was to try some tea leaf salad.  hmm...

Review - Dahlia Lounge

Dahlia Lounge

Food:
Ambiance:
Service:

As much as I love Tom Douglas' restaurant empire, I wish I could say I love Dahlia Lounge just as much.  Brunch at the Dahlia has gone downhill in the past few months.  I spent my bridal shower here just last August and I can't believe how much the food has changed since then.  I feel let down...

Anthropologie - Spring Lines Peasant Top by One September

Spring Lines Peasant Top by One September $39.95 (reg. $78)

Review: Anthropologie's Spring Lines Peasant Top by One September is cute.  It has pretty beadwork details on top, and a flattering fit. I haven't liked the fit of many of the tops that are cut with longer sides, but this one works.  The front seems just a little too short, but it's not a deal breaker.  The front is really detailed, some of which you can't see from the photos.  Beadwork, twists and pintucks cover the top.

Review - Jade Garden

Jade Garden

Food:
Ambiance:
Service:

I miss when Dim Sum were truly bite sized delicacies.  Now, it seems that most if not all Chinese Dim Sum restaurants have given in to what America wants.  Oversize Siu Mai, giant Hum Bow and portions so large they have to use sketchy kitchen scissors to cut the food up when they serve it.  ARGH!  If anyone knows of a place that serves what Dim Sum used to be, please, let me know.   Not to bag on Dim Sum, I love it, and I am not holding Jade Garden accountable for my rant, Jade Garden is actually pretty good for Dim Sum, if you are willing to battle the crowd.
