Review - Trophy Cupcakes

Trophy Cupcakes

So in the past few years Cupcakeries have been popping up everywhere.  Every city I visit has some cupcake place claiming to be the best.  Crumbs and Magnolia in NYC, Trophy and Cupcake Royale in Seattle.  So far, Trophy Cupcakes is my favorite.

I remember the first Trophy Cupcake I had, it was when the only place to get them was at Wallingford Center.  I used to be a cupcake purist, and I still feel that if a bakery does a great vanilla cupcake with vanilla buttercream frosting, then they are golden.  I was hesitant when ordering because I wasn't sure what to expect.  Yeah, they are adorable as food can be, but I reminded myself of how much I don't like super sweet frosting.  I went with the Vanilla Vanilla anyways.

The frosting is sweet, but buttery.  The cake is moist, and not too sweet.  I felt as if I found exactly what I was looking for in a cupcake!

I love the party supply section at the Wallingford location - I love the cupcake printed gift wrap and the cute letterpress cards.  It's hard to walk away without buying more than just a cupcake!

A couple years and many cupcakes later, Trophy has opened up additional locations at U Village and on the Eastside at the Bravern.

While shopping at the Bravern it felt nice to see a little piece of "home" over there.  Up the escalators you can see the signature blue and brown awning.  Of course we had to go in!

This location, as with the U Village location, is small in comparison to Wallingford.  But you can still get a cupcake fix with their revolving specials menu.

My favorites at all locations have been the Chocolate Vanilla - dense and moist chocolate cake with vanilla frosting and blue and brown sprinkles.. And the Hummingbird - banana, pineapple and coconut cake with cream cheese frosting - to die for.

For Easter only they also have Hi Hats - chocolate cupcakes with q high swirl of marshmallow cream dipped in chocolate - they look like Dairy Queen cones!

While visiting the U Village location shorty after Twilight Eclipse was in theaters, Trophy had special Twilight cupcakes - Jacob, Edward and Bella's faces on the cupcakes! I had to buy them for my friends, they were too cute!

Each day of the week, Trophy features a different selection of flavors.. Here's what they have right now!
